A Remarkable Event at the Ukrainian Spring Film Marathon
Last weekend, Nova Ukraine hosted a powerful screening of “Checkpoint Zoo” as part of the Ukrainian Spring Film Marathon!
About the Film
The documentary recounts the experiences of the team at Kharkiv’s zoo who remained to care for the animals amidst the chaos of war. Among the audience was a family from Kharkiv, who shared their personal experiences walking through the zoo with the crowd.
Opening Remarks
Nick Bilogorskiy, Co-founder and Board Chair of Nova Ukraine, opened the evening by reflecting on his roots in Kharkiv. We also heard from Joshua Zeman, the director of “Checkpoint Zoo,” through a pre-recorded message that provided a behind-the-scenes look at the film.
