About
The Organization for the Defense of Lemkivshchyna in America (OOL) is one of the oldest and most influential Ukrainian-American organizations representing people from the Lemko region. Founded to preserve Lemko heritage, culture, traditions, language, and identity, the organization has served Ukrainian communities in the United States since the early 20th century.
Originally established to provide moral, educational, and humanitarian support to Ukrainians in Lemkivshchyna following World War I, OOL expanded into a nationwide cultural and civic organization with branches across the United States. Over the decades, the organization has supported publications, educational initiatives, humanitarian aid, cultural preservation projects, museums, archives, and community programs dedicated to Lemko history and Ukrainian identity.
Today, OOL continues its mission through cultural activities, publishing efforts, humanitarian support, preservation of Lemko traditions, and educational work that connects generations of Ukrainian-Americans with their heritage and historical roots.
