Minnesota Daycare Employee Faces Charges After Intoxication Incident

A 21-year-old daycare worker, Aniya Kheosongseng, is confronting criminal charges following an alarming incident during her shift at the Milestones Early Learning Center in Plymouth, Minnesota.

Incident Overview

  • Date: February 23, 2023
  • Location: Milestones Early Learning Center, Plymouth, MN
  • Allegation: Severe alcohol intoxication while on duty

On the day of the incident, Kheosongseng returned from her lunch break noticeably impaired by alcohol. Colleagues initially believed she was experiencing a panic attack and called the police; however, officers quickly recognized that her condition was not a medical emergency.

Observations and Evidence

  • Behavior: Kheosongseng exhibited signs of severe intoxication, including a strong odor of alcohol, incoherent speech, unsteady movement, and difficulty remaining upright.
  • Surveillance Footage: Video evidence reportedly shows her condition worsening over time. At one point, she is seen dozing off while assisting with a child’s clothing. Shortly after, she loses her footing while carrying a toddler, causing both her and the child to fall against a wall.

While attempting to crawl toward the child, she further lost her balance and fell directly on top of him.

Police Interaction

When police arrived to apprehend Kheosongseng, she allegedly resisted arrest by pulling away and biting one of the officers on the leg. Breathalyzer tests later showed her blood alcohol concentration was 0.356—more than four times Minnesota’s legal driving limit.

During questioning, Kheosongseng confessed to consuming alcohol at home during her lunch break before returning to work.

Consequences

  • Medical care: Due to her intoxicated state, Kheosongseng was first taken to a hospital instead of jail.
  • Charges Filed: She has been charged with endangering a child and obstructing a police officer.
  • Employment Status: The daycare center immediately terminated Kheosongseng’s employment, stating that no children were harmed as a result of the incident.

Next Steps

The next hearing for this case is set for April 16. For more details, visit Chicago24online.
