The Purpose

This humanitarian cause is organized by the Ukrainian Women’s Association of America (UAWWA), a long-standing organization dedicated to protecting vulnerable communities and supporting women and children affected by war and humanitarian crises.

Through this initiative, UAWWA is raising funds to support Ukrainian children during the harsh winter months by covering essential needs at Misto Dobra, a safe haven for children living in shelters and care facilities impacted by the war. Donations help provide heating, electricity, water, and critical medications – ensuring that children have warmth, stability, and access to basic medical care when they need it most.

At its core, this mission is about more than utilities. It is about safeguarding childhood, restoring a sense of safety, and giving children the foundation they need to survive trauma and begin healing – especially during winter, when vulnerability is at its highest.

Why is it Important?

For a child, winter should mean warmth, safety, and sleep without fear.
For many Ukrainian children, winter means cold rooms, darkness, and uncertainty – on top of the trauma of war. When basic needs like heat, electricity, and medical care disappear, a child’s sense of safety disappears with them. And when safety is gone, healing becomes impossible.
