Zorepad Ukrainian Dance Ensemble is a Ukrainian folk dance ensemble based in Watervliet, New York. The name “Zorepad” means “Shooting Star,” and the ensemble traces its history back to 1976, when it began in Troy, NY under the direction of Roma Pryma Bohachevsky. The group later moved to Watervliet, where it continues its work today. The ensemble provides training in Ukrainian folk dance, Ukrainian character dance, and ballet fundamentals. Its school offers classes for beginners, intermediate dancers, and advanced students, helping children learn dance technique, musicality, stage presence, choreography, and regional dances from across Ukraine.
Through dance education, performances, cultural programming, and community involvement, Zorepad Ukrainian Dance Ensemble helps preserve Ukrainian traditions while giving younger generations a meaningful connection to Ukrainian music, movement, identity, and heritage.
